Characterization of Solid-Water Interface Reactions of Metals and Actinides on Clays and Clay Minerals

Status

Terminated - Planned from May 2005 till May 2005

Goals

The workshop is targeted for research workers and postgraduate students interested in the rapidly expanding interdisciplinary research area of “absorption processes of metals and actinides on clay minerals”. Young researchers from the whole European Union are addressed, with special consideration to new member states. The organization of the workshop will be flexible enough to allow time for broad discussions, with lectures in the morning and informal presentations in the afternoons. There will be scheduled lectures, but also enough opportunity for everyone to outline briefly their field of interest.

Expected results

The overall objectives are generation of knowledge, training of young researchers, integration of new Member States and contributing to the establishment of the European Research Area. The scientific objectives are to provided for a better understanding of clay metals and actinide interactions, especially through the broad European networking of young scientists expected to follow the workshop.
