Plutonium chemistry today: from ion to molecule

Status

Terminated - Planned from September 2007 till September 2007

Goals

We propose the organization of a one day symposium on plutonium chemistry. This symposium is opened to all researchers and students. It aims to offer a worldwide, large and state of the art overview of plutonium chemistry today. A presentation of the ACTINET network will be performed by J-P Glatz (ITU). The symposium will be hold at CEA Marcoule.

A one day symposium is the opportunity to concentrate on one specific subject (here plutonium chemistry) with selected specialized speakers from different countries (EU, USA, Russia). This is the opportunity to give an overview of a specific field of research. In that sense, the symposium does not follow the same objectives as international conferences such as ACTINIDES or PU FUTURE. Emphasize will be put on opportunities to exchange between researchers and young scientists.

Expected results

Foster scientific exchange and favour international collaborations within European researchers and between European and American researchers.

A specific one day meeting is always the opportunity to develop or strengthen scientific exchange. The relatively small size of the meeting should favour the emergence of new scientific collaborations in plutonium chemistry.
