CCD camera for µ-XRD and XRD tomographic investigations at the INE-Beamline for Actinide Research at ANKAStatus
GoalsIn this proposal we request 50% funding for a CCD camera system and increased computer storage capacity for implementation of µ-XRD capabilities at the INE-Beamline. This technique allows mapping of the distribution of mineral phases in an x,y-scanning mode and three dimensional mineral phase distributions using XRD tomography. The proposal is an extension of the ACTINET project 01-02 "Development of components for spatially resolved speciation studies at the INE-Beamline" and of ACTINET project 04-09 "Microfocusing capability at the INE Beamline". Expected resultsExpected impact on applied issues in the field of nuclear fission energy The upgrade is an improvement in the detection capabilities of a unique facility for actinide research in Europe, thereby exerting an indirect beneficial impact on actinide research and the field of nuclear fission energy. Expected impact on long term integration The INE-Beamline can better serve the scientific interests of the actinide community with an extension of its instrumental capabilities. The proposers have an excellent track record of transferring knowledge and know-how to other groups, so that the community as a whole will benefit. The INE-Beamline is a pooled facility serving the ACTINET community, therefore integration is not an issue; integration will be an intrinsic result. Reports |
