Development of components for spatially resolved speciation studies at the INE-Beamline
Status
| Terminated |
- Planned from November 2004 till May 2006 |
Goals
The aim of this joint research project is to:
- enhance the development and the improvement of the optical components available at the FZK-INE-Beamline (a µ-focus option will be implemented to perform spatially resolved µ-XAFS and µ-XRD measurements);
- better the service of the INE-Beamline as an ACTINET Pooled facility.
Expected results
The impact of the project directly results from the intrinsic advantages of a focussed optics:
- the possibility to study smaller sample volumes, which is important when the activity level of the samples becomes too great to be handled on the present INE-Beamline (with an exemption level limit of 1,000,000-times);
- the combination of imaging techniques and spectroscopic information, X-Ray absorption and near edge structure spectroscopy;
- the crystalline phase identification of buried phases (or secondary phase “islands”) on a bulk surface, using scanning µ-XRD.
