Photodynamic Processes of An(III) and Ln(III) Organic Complexes

Terminated - Planned from April 2005 till October 2006

Goals

This joint research project has been designed to improve the understanding of photodynamic processes taking place in lanthanide(III)/curium(III) humic acid systems. The aim is to make a contribution to the trustworthy long-term prediction of the impact of humic substances on actinide migration.

Expected results

The results of this joint research project will enhance the capability of resolving the issue of nuclear waste disposal (which is currently perceived as the main obstacle for continued use of nuclear energy in the European energy mix).
