EXAFS, TRLFS and quantum chemical analysis of An(III) complexes with Humic Acid and organic model ligandsStatus
GoalsDuring this joint research project the interaction of An(III)/Ln(III) with Humic acid and simple organic model ligands (phtalic acid and sulfo-salysilic acid) will be studied, by building on the competence cluster involved in JRP 02-03. The project makes use of a combination of EXAFS, TRLFS and quantum chemical calculations. The aim is to investigate the high stability of the humate complexation of Cm(OH)2+, Cm(OH)2+ and UO2(OH)+ ions, which show a stronger interaction than corresponding non-hydrolyzed ions. Expected resultsThe results of this joint research project will contribute to the common understanding of basic processes that occur in natural organic substances (including humic substances and clay organic matter with humic alike structures). These substances play a key role in the prediction of radionuclide migration throughout nuclear waste repositories. Reports |
