Development of new experimental methods using SIMS for the characterisation of actinide based materials
Status
| Terminated |
- Planned from September 2005 till March 2007 |
Goals
This joint research project is a first step in building an international SIMS group, focusing on actinide characterisation. It aims at defining a common methodology for SIMS measurements, which will help the different teams in saving time and using a strengthened methodology. In particular, the main objective is to define a procedure for the measurement of the depth profile of an implanted element in uranium dioxide (a basic SIMS measurement, used for diffusion coefficient and burn-up determination).
Expected results
The results of this research project will contribute to:
- the constitution of an analytical efficient and practical network;
- the support of irradiated material- and waste studies with reliable results;
- the coordination of analytical development within the field of SIMS analysis.
