The Centre for Radiochemistry Research, University of Manchester (CRR), is a partnership between the University and BNFL.
There are 4 permanent academic staff, 25 graduate students and 8 postdoctoral researchers working on coordination chemistry, spectroscopy and biogeochemistry of radioactive elements. The CRR has newly refurbished laboratories with a wide range of analytical and spectroscopic equipment for work with radioactive elements up to and including Pu. The CRR produces around 7 PhD graduates in radiochemistry each year and has developed systems for allowing students to work in Category 1 nuclear facilities.
