ACTINET brings research centres and academic organizations of the European actinide science community together, and structures them around a Core group of four partners (CEA, FZK, ITU, SCK•CEN), coordinated by the CEA.
The Governing Board is the Network’s highest decision-making and arbitration body. It is responsible for the determination of the Network’s general policy and strategic orientation, the adoption of criteria and priorities for the selection of Joint Research and Training Activities, the inclusion, exclusion and withdrawal of partner institutions, and the Network’s budget guidelines.
The Scientific Advisory Committee, consisting of several scientific experts, advises the Governing Board on its scientific strategy and the fields of research to be encouraged. It reviews the proposals for Joint Research and Training Activities, supplies the Governing Board and the Executive Committee with an analysis of the scientific and technical merit of the proposals, and provides an opinion as to their priority and relevance.
The Executive Committee is responsible for the day to day management of the network. It supplies the European Commission and the Governing Board with progress reports and decides on proposals for Joint research and Training Activities, after receiving the advice of both the Governing Board and the Scientific Advisory Committee. The Executive Committee is supported by a Management Team organised in three “Working Groups” (covering the three main scientific thematic areas) and four “Task Groups” (on specific organisational issues).
The global coordination of the Network is ensured by the Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique.
